Combilift win-win at forklift industry awards
Irish truck manufacturer Combilift enjoyed a win double at the recent Fork Lift Truck Association annual awards.
The FLTA's 40th anniversary was marked by the Victor Ludorum trophy – a gold-plated 'Archie' statuette – which went to Combilift for its multi-directional truck, the Combi CB. This was the firm's second win of the night, having already picked up the innovation prize for its Combi-RT model.
Other manufacturers winning on the night included Linde for its 394 displacement pump (environment prize) and JCB's Changezee teletruck carriage (ergonomics award). Each received a bronze version of the trophy.
Individual prizes included Cesab engineer Daniel McKinnon (from distributor Global Materials Handling) for apprentice of the year, and Jim Cameron of FB chain for services to industry. The Olympic-themed event was hosted by Sally Gunnell OBE.
FLTA chairman Martyn Fletcher said: "This event continues to celebrate all that is good in the materials handling industry and, for more than 18 years, we have encouraged and acknowledged the progress that has been made.
"While Combilift grabbed the headlines this evening, each of our champions and finalists represents a significant advance in ensuring materials are moved more safely, more efficiently and with less impact on the environment."
