New industrial rugged PC

Getac, a specialist rugged mobile computer manufacturer, has announced the launch of its new fully-rugged, ultra-light hybrid Notebook/Tablet PC, the V100.

Designed from the bottom up to meet the high rugged standards of manufacturing industries, the new V100 from GETAC boasts specialist rugged features, including magnesium alloy casing, to ensure it can withstand some of the most extreme conditions in almost any environment.

The 2.2 KG ultra-light V100 features a ‘rotatable’, polarized touch screen 10.4” WXGA TFT LCD display (12.1” optional), enabling it to transform from a notebook into a tablet PC. The V100’s unique display also houses a reversible integrated waterproof 1.3 Mega Pixel Camera. For use in extreme conditions the V100’s display can be customized to include sunlight readable technology to ensure clear visibility in high sunlight conditions.

The V100 complies with both MIL-STD 810F and IP54 standards. It is capable of withstanding heavy rain and spillages and is immune to damage from airborne dust and debris. The removable hard drive, the most vulnerable hardware in any system, is shielded by a protection mechanism to prevent damage during operation. It includes; anti vibration rubber, ideal for use during transport across rough terrain; and anti shock housing for circumstances when drops may occur. The HDD is also prepared for extreme temperatures, with a specifically designed optional HDD heater combined with low temperature battery the V100 will continue to work in temperatures down to -20?C. The V100 is one of the first computers with an ultra-mobile footprint to provide such advanced rugged features.

Featuring an Intel Core Duo ULV 1.2 GHz processor the V100 is enabled with the latest power saving technology to extend all important battery life, this on top of a 6 hour battery life as standard and the option to increase this even more with an upgrade to a 9 cell battery the V100 ensures worry free mobile computing.

Getac recognises that communication on the move is of the utmost importance and so has designed the V100 to include a variety of wireless capabilities to ensure no matter what requirements you may have, they are fulfilled; the V100 supports Bluetooth TPM 1.2 and WLAN technology as standard, and 3G and GPRS are available as upgrades.
