25 times faster on smart models

Engineering productivity up 25-fold and costs down accordingly, with BoMs (bills of materials) listed accurately and automatically, and engineering drawings created instantly: those are key benefits being achieved at safety protection package builder Mech-Tool Engineering. They’re coming from re-using know-how, captured digitally through IBM Knowledgeware and Catia V5 CAD software – despite every installation being different and Mech-Tool being a small organisation. This is an £8m engineer-to-order company, designing and manufacturing one-offs mostly across the process and energy sectors. We’re talking about blast walls, and more recently explosion-proof control rooms and fire-proof noise-control enclosures for industrial pumps, engines and turbines
