Silence is golden
Toyota Material Handling has developed a new hand pallet truck which is designed it to be as quiet as possible.
The new BT Lifter Silent has rubber steering, Powerthane bogie wheels, frames fitted with shock absorbing material to reduce vibration noise and adjustable rubber studs, and operates at less than – the volume of a conversation and 20% quieter than a standard hand pallet truck.
In the lead up to the Olympics, Transport for London, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) and the Noise Abatement Society are working together to ensure any deliveries during the games run smoothly – including out of hours. One of the main considerations is noise disruption, making the BT Lifter Silent an ideal piece of kit for this and any other application where noise needs to be kept to a minimum.
Mark Peters, Toyota's hand pallet truck product manager, commented: "The BT Lifter Silent is designed specifically to solve the problems of noisy out of hour deliveries or for deliveries that take place in built up or residential areas. Working closely with the Freight Transport Association, Noise Abatement Society and Transport for London we have been able to demonstrate the BT Lifter Silent and its capabilities for silent deliveries."
The BT Lifter Silent was tested under the Dutch PEAK programme and found to generate a maximum noise level of 60 dBA according to the testing guidelines.
