Essar seeks real-time analytics with SAP HANA, mobility and BI

Indian steel and energy giant Essar Group has selected SAP HANA and SAP BusinessObjects release 4.0 to gain real-time visibility into all its businesses verticals.

The announcement came at the SAP TechEd 2011 conference, in Bangalore, India, yesterday (19 October 19 2011), where the software giant launched SAP BusinessObjects OnDemand, powered by SAP HANA – offering non-specialists real-time analytics of any data, including data from on-demand solutions, in the cloud.

The Essar conglomerate, which is a long-term SAP enterprise software user, says it is also investing in SAP's mobility solutions and Sybase mobility solutions from SAP and Sybase to make interactive business data available anywhere on any device.

The organisation joins what SAP describes as a "growing list of companies" that have recently purchased or are in the process of implementing SAP HANA.

As for the mobility aspects, solutions selected include Sybase Unwired Platform, to standardise mobile enterprise application development, and the Afaria mobile device management system, which manages multiple devices for mobile users.

The company says it will also roll out the Sybase Mobile Sales application for SAP CRM and Sybase Mobile Workflow application for SAP Business Suite.
