New software helps chain selection June 2007

New chain specification software that enables engineers to determine the correct roller chain for a specific application has been introduced.

Available from Rexnord, the new software is simple to use and intended to shorten lead times between concept and finished projects involving chain driven power transmission systems as well as determining correct replacement chain for existing systems.

Called ‘RexDrive’, the software permits engineers to select Rexnord roller chain for a given duty. It calculates static safety against ultimate strength (average breaking load), the dynamic safety against fatigue strength and the bearing area pressure, which determines wear characteristics.

In addition, RexDrive advises on the appropriate lubricant and the expected wear performance.

Once the correct chain has been identified users can contact the company for a quotation.

The chain selection software is available FREE on CD – contact Steve Payne on 01527 830473
