The requirement to reduce carbon footprints and save energy has led one company to extend its range of GPRS enabled, wireless environmental monitoring and management tools.
The latest product from t-mac Technologies, the t-mac SC, is set to complement the range of t-mac devices by helping to effect real change in energy management practices.
It works by gathering information via a direct, single cable, connection to the RS485 or RS232 serial ports. It has been designed primarily with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) applications in mind. Communicating via serial links, the t-mac SC can collect up to 256 points from a variety of equipment, communicating to and from each piece of equipment’s onboard embedded controller.
Smaller in size than the other t-mac systems, it still boasts the same monitoring capabilities, however, only collecting information on equipment performance across the serial communication link. It provides in depth information on: equipment conditions; associated wastage; energy and asset inefficiencies; and costs in the form of interactive graphs, which can be can viewed over the Internet. The information collated then enables users to determine and measure where and how much energy is being used over a specific period and compare this to annual targets, thus helping them to create energy saving strategies.
Lisa Wilkinson, business development director from t-mac Technologies, says: “Installing energy efficient practices and initiating reduction strategies for waste is at the top of every businesses agenda. We are continually seeing a stronger market demand for energy management tools which, along with tightening government legislation, has pushed us to widen our product range to cater for a multitude of business requirements.”
