Trucks play bit part January 2007

NUB Engineering has chosen the new Hyster Fortens truck for its engineering site in Motherwell, where it manufacturers foundation drilling tools for the UK and worldwide markets.

NUB has enjoyed a long relationship with Hyster’s distributor Barloworld Handling, so this was its first port of call when a new forklift truck was needed.

The two forklift trucks are 2.5 tonne and 3.5 tonne models, and are used throughout the production process. When the steel plates arrive they are unloaded and put into storage. The plates are then taken for cutting and pressing, before the sections are stored awaiting despatch.

In addition, drilling augurs and tools are sent back for repair and reconditioning. In the operation the trucks have to lift both pallets and drill lengths weighing up to 3 tonnes.

Bill Usher, director of NUB Engineering, comments: “We have had a good working partnership with Barloworld Handling for some time now. This new Fortens lift truck from Hyster is the ideal truck for our application and it has certainly made life more comfortable and safer for my operators.”
