Demand forecasting is the primary issue that manufacturers have to grapple with. So says Olivier Vairon, supply chain strategy manager at data management, modelling and forecasting specialist SAS – but are those simply the words of yet another hopeful software vendor? The answer is yes and no, with, on the one hand, the business imperatives for better and thus more collaborative forecasting increasing, while on the other, users remain largely cynical despite greatly improving technology
