Yule Catto profits ahead of expectations 12/01/2010

Speciality chemicals producer Yule Catto said today (12 January) that its trading profitability in the second half of 2009 had improved on the levels experienced through the first half and that its full year profits would be strongly ahead of 2008 and ahead of expectations.

The Harlow, Essex-based company's polymer chemicals business had seen a continuation of steady volume recovery and more improvement is expected in 2010.
The pharmaceutical chemicals division saw some recovery in volumes late in the year, and will be ahead of last year, Yule Catto announced in a trading statement.

The statement concluded: "The Group's success at growing the profitability of its polymer chemicals division over recent years, both pre and post recession, and the strong financial performance of the Group in both 2008 and 2009 gives us every confidence for the future.
