NYK wins Nissan contract 16/06/2009

NYK Logistics has been awarded a contract by Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) to provide inbound logistics services to its manufacturing facility in Sunderland, to support production of the Micra, Note and Qashqai (pictured).

NYK is responsible for the delivery of nearly 800 different parts to the plant, from 47 UK based suppliers. It is a highly time sensitive operation, with Nissan holding minimal stock on site.

The operation is based at NYK's strategic site in Castleford, with regional support from Avonmouth and Milton Keynes.

Nissan's Paul Maddison said: "Nissan recently conducted a tender for our UK logistic business. Through an intensive activity, NYK were successful in being awarded the contract. Implementation was concluded during April, with very successful results. Nissan is pleased to expand its logistic scope with NYK, developing future improvement activity plans for a successful business relationship moving forward".
