£24m Harrier contract for Qinetiq 23/06/2008

The UK defence firm Qinetiq has just been awarded a Ministry of Defence contract worth almost £24 million over the next 10-years for through-life support on the Harrier aircraft. The contract supports delivering long term Harrier availability and capability, through to its out-of-service date in 2018.

Under the contract Qinetiq will provide technical services and a support programme that it says “underpins through-life management of the platform and provides flexibility and value for money to MoD”.

Mary Carver, MD of Qinetiq’s managed services business, said the order represented a significant step forward both in the way MoD approached through-life support and in the way Qinetiq was perceived as a long-term working partner. “This is a fantastic achievement for the pan-Qinetiq teams. It further strengthens the technical support services work we provide to MoD and ensures continuation of our focus on delivering operational capability and value for money,” she went on.
