Smiths completes Dutch deal 28/04/2008

Smiths Group, the London headquartered global technology company, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Indufil BV, a Dutch-based specialist in filters for the petrochemical and process industries.

The completion follows competition clearance from the German Competition Authority.

Indufil designs and builds specialist filtration systems. These are used for rotating equipment in the petrochemical and power sectors. It also benefits from a strong aftermarket for its products. The company will become part of Smiths Group’s John Crane business.

Smiths said Indufil had a strong order book and was trading ahead of its performance in the same period of the previous year. In the financial year to 31 December 2007, Indufil had sales of £26 million.

Indufil’s growth is driven by the expansion of the turbine power generation sector and rising petrochemical consumption and it sells a broad range of filtration systems, filter elements and associated products to customers who already use John Crane’s technology (pictured) and services for their equipment and facilities.

John Crane intends to leverage Indufil’s products and technology through its global network of sales and customer support centres.
