Premises expansion to feed global demand

Sustainable energy technology business Ener-g has expanded its Greater Manchester manufacturing base, moving part of its operation into an extra 10,000 sq ft of production capacity.
The company, which said the expansion was to keep pace with a steep rise in global demand for its products, is close to its UK research and development, manufacturing and administration headquarters in Salford.
The additional factory will enable Ener-g to assemble up to five 2MWe containerised combined heat and power (CHP) or landfill gas generator units simultaneously.
Pre-despatch test facilities will also be expanded to accommodate simultaneous testing of three units. Ener-g said this would shrink customer lead times and maximise cost and environmental efficiency savings.
The new factory will release space at the existing site, boosting production capacity for Ener-g’s sub 1MW CHP units.
Group managing director Derek Duffill, said: “This additional capacity is needed due to the continued expansion of our business and the increase in demand for CHP and landfill gas generation equipment. The reduction in lead-times for manufactured products will boost productivity and further enhance our growth programme.”
Ener-g has a number of international subsidiary and joint venture operations, employing nearly 600 people worldwide and has a turnover of £70 million.
