Training pilot shows benefits for company and candidates 17/01/2008

A training pilot in association with the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing has helped internal training lead to recognised qualifications at a world recognised automotive manufacturer

Seventeen employees from Group Lotus in Norfolk have become the first of 300 to be awarded a prestigious industry-recognised qualification.

The awards at the Hethel plant are the result of a three-way effort by Lotus, the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing and City College Norwich. Together they have ensured Lotus’ internal training offers employees a route to recognised qualifications whilst retaining its reputation for high-quality learning.

Any employee completing and passing the Lotus’ internally provided training programmes will now qualify for the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) for Business Improvement Techniques (B-IT) Level 2.

Lotus will also commence delivery of NVQ B-IT Level 3 training programmes during January. The high quality of training at Lotus is assured via meeting the stringent requirements of the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing.

The new training provides a good understanding of statutory law, health and safety, effective team working, work place organisation, visual management systems and problem solving. The aim is to help employees develop an even better understanding of their roles within manufacturing and to further improve quality and performance – ensuring a solid benefit for both employees and employer.
