Shepherd Neame drives green logistics with Paragon software 11/12/2007

manufacturing business software Shepherd Neame, already the UK’s greenest brewery, has selected Paragon’s routing, scheduling and transport optimisation software as it looks to maximise load capacity and reduce mileage.

Ian Dixon, Shepherd Neame’s production and distribution director, says that, having won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the sustainable development category in 2006, it chose Paragon software to further reduce its carbon footprint.

There’s also the small matter of efficiency in vehicle routing and increased fleet productivity, leading to significant cost savings.

“As part of our mission to cut overall carbon emissions in real terms, we are looking to maximise distribution efficiencies,” he says. “By choosing Paragon, we are able to ensure our vehicles are loaded effectively and that in every case the delivery routes are both practical and cost-efficient.”

Industry recommendation was another factor in the company’s decision. “We have strong relationships with the major brewery chains,” confirms Dixon, “most of whom use Paragon. It was therefore an easy decision to go with the market’s leading industry standard solution.”
