The idea of controlling temperature, perspiration levels and therefore wearer comfort in safety clothing and PPE is not new. Now, uvex has launched a safety glove that, with recent advances and innovation in manufacturing and materials, produces a comfortable glove with level 5 cut protection.
The uvex Helix C5 is suitable for many different applications and conditions and provides wearer comfort, dexterity and protection. The company has developed and patented Bamboo Twinflex technology which blends a silky-feel bamboo fibre for temperature regulation and moisture wicking, with cut resistant hybrid yarns to achieve high levels of cut and abrasion resistance. It has been developed in conjunction with leading institutes in Germany.
To quantify the gloves’ internal climate it was necessary to devise methods of testing airflow, breathability, water vapour volume and user comfort. High cut protection usually involves heavier materials and compromises in comfort and dexterity, but uvex set out to develop a product that was uncompromising.
The Helix C5 glove is made using recently developed Flat Ergo moulds, which replicate the hand exactly, give a seamless finish and measurably improve fit and dexterity. Newly developed high-performance elastomer coatings substantially improve the product’s breathability with excellent grip properties in light oil or dry conditions.
