Orders for order picker December 2007

Jungheinrich has announced that in the first six months following its launch, over 500 of its Kombi EKX 5 Series order picker/stackers trucks have been sold globally.
The EKX Series 5 uses RFID to enhance the truck’s performance and safety.

Transponders set in the floor automatically adjust the truck’s speed as it travels around the warehouse or distribution centre and can be set to ensure that, for example, the truck automatically slows down when it reaches the end of an aisle and reduces speed in poor quality floor areas or when carrying sensitive goods.

“The transponders will tell the truck to reduce its speed in aisles where floors are of poor quality while allowing them to work at a higher speed in aisles where the floors are good,” said Craig Johnson, Jungheinrich UK’s sales and marketing manager. “We launched the EKXSeres 5 at LogiMAT in Stuttgart, in February of this year, and the response to the product has been overwhelming,” he added.

At a recent open day at Jungheinrich’s Warrington facility, over 50 local clients and potential clients took the chance to see and assess the EKX Series 5 for themselves.
“The reaction from our guests at the open day to the Series 5 was very positive and we expect UK demand for the new Kombi to help drive global sales through the 1000 truck barrier in the very near future,” said Johnson.
