One of the world’s 100 leading industrial corporations, Saint Gobain, has retained Hyster as one of its four preferred suppliers of materials handling equipment for its European operations until 2010.
Saint Gobain, with its headquarters in France, is a global producer and distributor of building materials. It leads the market in each of its business sectors in Europe where it is probably best known as a glass manufacturer. Saint Gobain is the global leader in plasterboard, insulation, roof tiles, abrasives and cast iron pipes. Its distribution division features brands such as Jewson in the UK, Point P in France and Raab Karcher in Germany. Saint Gobain operates in 54 countries fielding a workforce of over 207,000 people.
The announcement of the supplier status is the conclusion of three months of intensive negotiations by the Hyster major accounts team.
“As well as offering our comprehensive product range, Hyster and its dealers will provide Saint Gobain with full maintenance service packages and fleet management programmes. We have a clear long-term focus to realise the vast potential of this account and to increase our share of the potential business opportunities available, substantiating the deal we have negotiated,” says Martin Naylor, major accounts manager, Hyster EMEA.
Hyster offers over 140 models of counterbalance trucks, warehouse equipment, container handling and reach stackers. The company invests heavily in research and development and works closely with its customers to ensure Hyster products are at the forefront of the materials handling industry providing maximum dependability and the lowest cost of ownership for demanding operations, everywhere. The company also boasts a worldwide network of independent distribution partners, dedicated to expert, local customer and service support.
