Reckitt Benckiser in Hull has been announced as the winner of the Factory of the Year 2007.
This prestigious award was presented on September 21 by Chris Rowlands, one of the BFA judges, and editor of Works Management at The Hilton, Park Lane, in front of 500 guests there to celebrate manufacturing’s Best.
The accolade comes about after not just the completion of a detailed analysis of the company’s performance, but a rigorous judging visit. The company has fought off eleven other businesses that were shortlisted, in an intense competition during which all parts of every business came under scrutiny.
The Reckitt Benckiser factory manufactures a range of over the counter and prescription medicines. These embrace wet and dry pharmaceutical products, including well-known names such as Gaviscon, Lemsip and also Dettol. It employs 210 people on the site in Hull.
The Best Factory Awards programme is run by Works Management magazine, part of Findlay Publications, in partnership with Cranfield School of Management.
The awards programme not only recognizes excellence, but also seeks to share best practice with other manufacturers through conferences and the publication, Works Management, where the winners are featured regularly.
A full list of winners, with photographs, is available from the Best Factory Awards website.
And full details will be published in a special October edition of Works Management.
